Our Policy Work: How we campaign for change

Who we are

Our mission

We exist to secure a brighter future for young people by creating a platform for them to shape the services they access.

We're working to provide young people with the resources, services, and opportunities necessary to maintain positive mental health in a safe and secure environment.

Our vision

We believe in a world where every young person feels confident to be able to access appropriate support for their mental health.

Our values

Our organisational values act as a guide for staff and Trustees about how we work at A Little Bit of Sunshine. Our ‘ALBOS’ values create a framework for taking actions and making decisions at every level of the charity.

Accessibility

We will be accessible and provide fair and open access to volunteer opportunities and support services in our communities.

Leadership

We will be leaders, motivating ourselves and others to meet our aims and support the young people we serve.

Belonging

We will be belonging, creating and fostering an inclusive culture of support and acceptance for everyone involved with the charity.

Open-mindedness

We will be open minded, taking on board other people's ideas to ensure we meet our aims.

Selflessness

We will be selfless, acting with less concern for ourselves and more for the success of the charity and our mission as a whole.

Our Areas of work

We work in three ways:

  • Support - We provide support to young people looking for help with their mental health, signposting and helping them to access services.
  • Engage - We're working to improve the wellbeing and support services for children and young people through youth advocacy projects and programmes.
  • Influence - We're working to promote the importance of youth voice within mental health and health education policy at a local, regional, and UK level.
