A Little Bit of Sunshine UK (ALBOS UK) is looking for a highly motivated Project Lead to deliver a youth peer research project in North Nottinghamshire.
Purpose of the role
You will lead the charity’s new Peer Researcher Project that will explore why working class boys are less likely to access mental health support in local areas in North Nottinghamshire (Ashfield, Mansfield and Bassetlaw). Working closely with colleagues in Projects and Services and the Leadership Team you will oversee the delivery of the project, including supporting workshops, supporting peer facilitators, and ensuring the project is delivered safely and effectively to a high standard.
The Project Lead will train and support peer researchers including training days and providing regular feedback and drop in sessions for young people to access. You will have the opportunity to see real impact and support young people to have a voice.
Main responsibilities

As Project Lead you will:
- Coordinate the Peer Researcher Programme including recruitment of peer researchers, mentors and support team for the project
- Support the creation and delivery of three training days for young people to learn about research methods, ethics and be empowered to have sensitive and supportive conversations with their peers
- Lead the tracking of project outputs, outcomes and feedback including creating an overall report of the programme and its research outputs
- Support the coordination of impactful storytelling (e.g. gathering testimonials, case studies, and media).
- Ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all participants.
- Involve and update key internal and external stakeholders as appropriate, including staff, volunteers and young people involved in the project and external partners (e.g., funders, local schools)
- Manage the programme’s budget and work with the Chief Executive on managing the programme
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience in managing or leading community, mental health or research projects
- Understanding and familiarity with children and young people’s mental health, youth work and suicide prevention work
- Strong project management skills: planning, risk management, and evaluation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable
- Direct experience working with children and young people
- Understanding of safeguarding
- Familiarity with the youth sector in Nottinghamshire
- Experience with peer-led or co-production projects.
